In 1994, Amor Prohibido was released and five of the singles became number one hits. The album became the fastest-selling Latin album of all time. Amor Prohibido and the song of the same name were nominated for a Grammy Award. In late 1994, Charles Koppelman, the chairman of EMI Latin, believed that Selena was ready to release a cross over album. Selena would then begin recording songs in English instead of Spanish, which would expand her career.
It was announced on July 14, 2011, that Gomez had signed a license agreement with Adrenalina, an extreme sports and adventure-themed lifestyle brand, to develop, manufacture, and distribute the actress’s fragrance. Chairman and C.E.O. of Adrenalina, Ilia Lekach, said, «We are incredibly enthused to be working with Ms. Gomez and will reveal more details pertaining to the fragrance as we get closer to the launch date.» The perfume was released in May 2012. In models adjusted for race/ethnicity, women with a lifetime IPV history had compromised health compared to non-abused women. Adverse IPV-related mental health issues were more pronounced in Latina women. Multivariable models included indicator variables for the main effects of IPV exposure and Hispanic ethnicity and their interaction term to allow estimation of the relationship between lifetime IPV and current health separately for Latina and non-Latina women. In these models, the exposed group included women with any IPV since age 18 according to the BRFSS or WEB questions and the unexposed group comprised women without such histories.

It comes as no surprise to most that there’s a sustained pay gap between men and women in the American work force, but today we look beyond the gap between just men and women and instead recognize how race and ethnicity impacts this divide. Today, Latinas are paid only 54 cents compared to a White, non-Hispanic man’s one dollar for completing similar work.
